Last year the Benevolence and Care Committee gave the go ahead to publicise the “Make it a Million” campaign for Prostate Scotland and gave their blessing to this Facebook page to be used to publicise events that are happening in Lodges, Provinces, and Districts and likewise to report back on successful fund-raising events.

What a year it has been – I am absolutely delighted to let you all know that  we have now reached and exceeded the £900,000 mark – what a fantastic achievement – my sincere thanks to you all.

Yesterday, Grand Secretary was privileged to represent me in receiving a cheque in the sum of Aus $23,000 from the Scottish Masonic Charitable Foundation of Western Australia.   This donation brings our total raised to date to a magnificent £917,007.

Grand Secretary receiving the donation to the Make it a Million initiative from Brother George Rogers, Chairman of the Scottish Masonic Charitable Foundation of Western Australia and Past District Grand Master of Western Australia.

We now have just over four months to go until the Festival of St Andrew when I look forward to presenting the final cheque to “Make it a Million”. I am totally convinced that we can do it.

We have numerous events taking place all over Scotland and abroad, all of which are playing an integral part in both raising awareness and raising funds. Please keep the events going – we need each and every one of them.

Our main thrust will be through the zip slide – while we don’t have nearly as many places as we would have liked, I have no doubt that if those twenty-five Brethren who do have the privilege of doing it, get all the Provinces behind them, they alone could reach the target by raising £4000 per place – very much achievable if we all work together and support one another.

Let’s all get on board for the final push and in so doing make history – the first time that Scottish Freemasons have contributed £1,000,000 to a single charity – but more importantly that we have enabled much progress to be made in beating this insidious disease that can affect men throughout the world.

My sincere thanks again to you all – keep up the good work and let us “Make it a Million”

W Ramsay McGhee
